Solskjaer travelled to Salzburg last week for talks with the coveted young striker, who he previously worked with at Molde in their native Norway.
Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also interested in Haaland but reports on Sunday suggested that he has told Solskjaer he wishes to join United.
Solskjaer would not details of his trip to Salzburg but appeared to suggest that Haaland has indeed made a decision on his future.
“I don’t comment on them speculations so that’s it,” he said, adding: “He knows what he wants to do and what he’s going to do.”
Haaland’s contract with Red Bull Salzburg reportedly contains a release clause of approximately £20m, well below his expected market value.
Haaland’s father, the former Leeds and Manchester City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, told Nowegian newspaper VG: “I hope you understand that I can’t comment on all the rumours going on now.”
The 19-year-old has been in sensational form for Salzburg this season, scoring 28 goals in 22 appearances including eight in the Champions League group stages.
