Bestselling global beauty brand Chantecaille has launched a special limited edition makeup line to support the work of Space for Giants, the charity partner of The Independent’s Stop the Illegal Wildlife Trade campaign.
Chantecaille, who recently became the first corporate supporter of our campaign, unveiled the philanthropic collection – called Safari Chic – to shine a light on the vital work being done by Space for Giants to prevent poaching and protect wildlife.
Sylvie Chantecaille, president and CEO of her eponymous beauty company, tells The Independent “this range of lipsticks was created to celebrate Chantecaille’s love for – and commitment to – protecting animals and the natural world.
“Every sale will support Space for Giants and help to stop the illegal wildlife trade. The elephant is our most beloved species, and forms part of Chantecaille’s company logo. We are so excited to be able to support the campaign in this way.”
Inspired by the richness and beauty of the earth’s natural colour palette, the range consists of three neutral lipsticks, which join Chantecaille’s bestselling Lip Veil Collection in support of Space for Giants.
Known as one of the beauty industry’s foremost innovators, Sylvie established Chantecaille more than 20 years ago and chose to use her influence to bring much needed attention and funds to urgent conservation efforts.
Though she admits it wasn’t until she visited Kenya a decade ago that she fell in love with elephants. Sylvie said “It all changed when I met Daphne Sheldrick, who was tirelessly caring for elephants in her sanctuary. It changed my life. The feeling that you get being near these majestic, wise creatures is like nothing else.”
Sylvie and her daughter Olivia, who is Chantecaille’s Creative Director, created Safari Chic after being inspired by a family trip to Kenya just before lockdown.
Olivia said “these beautiful shades evoke Mother Earth – the colours of the breathtaking African landscape and the striking indigenous trees.
Safari Chic is Chantecaille’s thirtieth collaboration with a charity partner, supporting a diversity of efforts to save endangered species and ecosystems.
Rather than a rush towards novelty or ‘trend’ for philanthropy, Chantecaille’s long term commitment to giving back is both generous and solid.
Their longterm partnership with Space for Giants has supported the vital work the charity undertakes in preventing poaching, protecting wildlife and supporting the judicial and conservation authorities in six African countries. Since 2017, Chantecaille has donated more than $500,000 to the nonprofit.”
Sylvie said: “The work that Space for Giants does is vital in protecting the migratory paths of elephants, whose wild spaces are threatened by human encroachment and poaching. Wildlife has been forced to compete with humans, and they don’t have enough freedom or space. They urgently need our help.”
